“14 tracks Saluting Ladies who Experiment”

Ever since Daphne Oram joined the BBC in 1942 and eventually founded the Radiophonic Workshop, the fairer sex has contributed to the development of new and experimental music with a freshness and originality that belies the male dominated, antiquated and often stale focus of the music industry. From Daphne and Delia's pioneering tape edits to the ever inventive pop language of Bjork, ladies have influenced music-making through every genre imaginable, inventing a few new ones in the process. This selection is just a snapshot of that influence, featuring music from the avant-garde, folk, indie, modern classical and ambient movements, all united by an unconventional and experimental approach to music making at its best. Ladies, we salute you....

“Radiophonic Workshop”

I've never even heard of Daphne Oram but this track here is incredible. when does it date from? strange that Delia Derbyshire is so much better known. Also really like the Lau Nau track. Best listen to the rest now - brilliant selection so far and so nice to find out about music that's actually worth knowing about - more please.

“Something missing”

Brilliant selction, although I do miss one essential lady: Else Marie Pade, who did beatiful abstract tapeedit electronic pieces back in the fifties.

“1 click to play all 14 tracks”

Yes, really, "Play all button!!!!" +1 .... if it is now possible to buy a playlist of all 14, surely it should also be possible to be able to play all 14, no ? The whole idea of this "curatorial" approach is to "give yourself over" to the selection as proposed, not to have to drop what you're doing to go back to the page and re-select something every 3 or 4 mins ???

“Play All”

The Play All button - it’s coming. Not sure when yet, but it’s on the laundry list with a bunch of other things that we want to see ourselves.

@jdreng - thanks for the tip, I listened to a couple of samples over on last.fm that I really liked. Any release in particular you’d recommend to get me going?

“Please zip all 14 tracks up into one file!”

Just bought the selection again this week - loving the music. BUT... the download process is getting quite tedious - clicking on each file and waiting for the download dialogue to appear puts a bit of a downer on what is otherwise a great thing. Please - make it easy for us. Zip em all up into one file. The current process takes the gloss off it and almost defeats the point of having a nice and easy, ready made selection.

“Never satisfied”

Please mush up all my food and feed it to me on a spoon... Why, every week, do we get a bunch of moanie minnies swamping the comments?...I'm guessing some people will never be satisfied... Personal I'm loving your work here, keep it up... or I maybe forced to moan... What do you mean I'm already moaning...

“download nightmare”

Fully agree with Sam - downloading each individual track is laborious - please enable us to download them as a whole abum.
